HEALTHCARE POWER OF ATTORNEY
What is Healthcare Power of Attorney?
Healthcare power of attorney, also known as durable power of attorney, names a person to make medical decisions in the event of physical or mental incapacity. The directive is designed to grant legal powers to someone you trust if you’re ever unable to make your own medical decisions. The person you select, sometimes called a healthcare proxy, will work with doctors to make healthcare decisions for you and make sure your medical wishes are being carried out to the best of their ability.
Healthcare power of attorney is often created alongside a living will as part of an advance directive.
Do I need Healthcare Power of Attorney?
Advance directives can speak for you when you’re no longer able to. Granting an individual healthcare power of attorney makes sure your wishes are carried out by someone whom you trust. It also protects your loved ones from the unnecessary burden of not knowing what to do if they ever found themselves in that difficult situation.

“My LegalShield law firm did a great job in helping me understand how to prepare my Healthcare Power of Attorney by answering all the questions I had, that I didn’t quite understand on the 6 page form they had emailed to me. The best part was, it only took me 10 minutes to fill out and just a few more in minutes to get my questions answered. I didn’t even have to leave my home to get this done! Kudos to my local law firm provider!”*
