Begin with the end in mind. This was the phrase that describes how I was thinking almost 20 years ago when I started my LegalShield business. The end, at that moment in my life, was retirement. I was 48 years old and had no idea of how I was going to retire. With most of our money going into the education of our children and our business ventures, we had saved very little. We were 20 years out from when we should be retiring, but we had little or no idea of how we could. My husband’s idea was to drop dead at his desk. My question was, “What if you drop sick! Will I have to kill you?”

Enter LegalShield. It was a product in which I truly believed. You can’t run businesses and not think that affordable access to legal services is anything but a great idea. They also paid me for my efforts along with creating a source of residual income. I could finally see a way to retire.

Fast forward almost 20 years, and here I am living in Costa Rica on income from LegalShield that would allow me to retire comfortably. However, I am still involved in my business. What LegalShield is doing today is just too exciting for me to stop working. And I believe so strongly in the product that I can’t stop telling people about it. I continue to build my team across North America and look forward to hitting even higher positions with the company.

Before LegalShield, I had many careers. I was a college professor and a film producer for the National Film Board of Canada as well as PBS. In my early 40s, I made a career change and bought a franchise to coach small business owners. All along I have written and published books on network marketing and other subjects.

I enjoyed my careers, and I worked hard. But I never realized financial rewards. It was always a struggle. And my biggest regret is the time my career stole from my family. Even as a business owner, I would see clients until after 5 o’clock and then rush to the day-care center to get my son. My clients demanded and got my time.

LegalShield gave me back my life and provided the money to enjoy it. The business allowed me to focus on what was important in each chapter of my life.

I was home with my son during his formative years. I was able to devote full-time to taking care of my family when our house burned down, and I have been able to move to our dream retirement home in Costa Rica.

Because of residual income, I have been able to continue working part-time to meet my needs. I am passionate about helping others do the same because I see lots of people my age struggling to make ends meet on Social Security. My Social Security looks like a tip on my LegalShield income.

What I’ve come to understand about money is that it gives us choices. We can live our lives based on what we want rather than what we can afford. We can make a difference in the lives of others, and we can enrich our own lives and the lives of those we love. With a company and service like LegalShield, I can make a difference while making a living. Why would I ever stop doing that?
