Personal Plan Coverage Details
A small monthly fee gets you access to legal help on an unlimited number of personal legal issues from attorneys with an average of 22 years of experience. This page provides detailed information on what is included with your monthly fee.
-
Provide Advice by Phone
You can always speak with your attorney to get legal advice on an unlimited number of personal legal matters in any area of law, including pre-existing issues. Your attorney will speak with you for as long as he/she believes is necessary to adequately advise you on the matter in question. Also, if necessary, your attorney will provide up to one hour of legal research on each matter, for no additional fee.
-
Write Letters or Make Phone Calls On Your Behalf
If after the phone consultation your attorney determines that a letter or phone call from them would help you resolve the legal issue, they will write one letter or make one phone call on your behalf. If additional phone calls or letters from the attorney are needed, they will be provided at 25% off the attorney’s hourly rates.
-
Review Documents
You may submit any personal legal document up to 15 pages or less that’s related to the legal issue being discussed so long as you or one of your covered family members is party to the contract. Your attorney will review the document and advise you by phone about any areas of concern and the legal implications. Their goal is to arm you with the information you need to resolve the situation. Should you choose to have the attorney engage in extensive negotiation on your behalf, those services are available at 25% off their standard hourly rate.
-
Mortgage Document Preparation
If you’re buying a primary residence, your attorney will prepare the mortgage documents as required by your lender. You can receive this benefit once per calendar year. All you have to do is provide the necessary information to your attorney at least five business days prior to the closing date and they will take care of document preparation.
-
Document Review
Your attorney can review and provide feedback on residential home purchase documents prepared by the seller, lender or third parties as long as they are provided to the attorney at least five business days prior to the closing.
-
Attorney Representation at Trial
Your membership includes representation by your attorney if you or your spouse is a named defendant in a civil suit.
-
Trial Time
Each year of membership, through your fifth year, earns you additional attorney trial defense and pre-trial preparation hours as follows.

Additional Information and Limitations
At this point you may be in one of two places. Either you’re ready to join LegalShield to start saving money and reducing stress or you have a few lingering questions. One of the top questions we get from prospective members is “will my exact legal situation really be covered by the standard member benefits?”
As mentioned above, everything is covered one way or the other. Certain complicated situations may require additional legal services which are provided at a generous 25% discount off the attorney’s standard hourly fee. If you’re still not sure you’ll be covered by the standard benefits or just want additional details, there are three main ways to get the information.
