Every 22 seconds, another American becomes a victim of identity theft. In 2024 alone, the FTC received more than 1.1 million identity theft reports¹ — and the consequences don't stay at home.

When an employee is victimized, recovery consumes 30 to 200-plus hours of phone calls, paperwork, and follow-ups — most of it on company time.² According to the FTC's 2024 Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book, 61% of victims miss work and 85% need at least one full day off.² In a company of 500 employees, roughly 50 will face identity theft this year.

The threat landscape is evolving fast. Today's criminals deploy AI-generated deepfakes, voice clones, and fake social media profiles. In the first seven months of 2025, AI-assisted fraud generated more than 9,000 complaints to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center.³ Cybercrime losses across the U.S. hit $16.6 billion in 2024 — a 33% jump year over year.⁴ Working-age adults between 30 and 59 represent the highest concentration of FTC identity theft complaints, and employment-related identity theft grew 20% year over year.²

IDShield's 2027 National Plans — available now for groups with an effective date of January 1, 2027 — address these threats directly with five new features:

  1. AI Scam Protection (ScamCheck). An AI-powered mobile tool that detects and blocks suspicious messages, links, and phone numbers in real time, with deepfake video scanning and robocall and SMS spam blocking built in.
  1. Block Trackers. Stops invasive cookies, data harvesting, and website fingerprinting — keeping employees' browsing behavior and identifying information out of data brokers' hands.
  1. Grandparent Consultation & Restoration (3B Plan). Extends full identity theft support services to the participant's grandparents — a meaningful expansion for employees managing caregiving responsibilities alongside work.
  1. Cyberbullying $100K Sublimit Insurance Coverage (3B Plan). Provides financial protection under the plan's existing $5 million identity fraud protection umbrella for covered cyberbullying incidents.
  1. Subscription Manager. A centralized tool to view, track, and cancel active subscriptions — closing a common entry point for identity theft, and helping to improve overall financial health.

IDShield monitors, alerts, and resolves — not just notifies. Licensed Private Investigators handle restoration end-to-end. IDShield resolves 96% of cases in an average of two hours, carries a 4.7/5 Trustpilot rating, and an NPS score of 95 for restoration — compared to an industry average of 44. Employees pay through payroll deduction; employers gain a workforce that isn't quietly losing hours to one of the most disruptive personal crises an adult can face.
