De’Erricka Green joined Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC in 2023. She earned her B.A. in English and Africana Studies from North Carolina State University in 2014, with minors in Chemistry and Technical Scientific Communication. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the illustrious North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2017, graduating Cum Laude. At NCCU Law, De’Erricka served as the Treasurer to the Turner Inn of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society, as an Editor on the inaugural Environmental Law Review, and was an Admissions Office Ambassador. She is a licensed attorney in both Georgia and North Carolina. Prior to joining Merritt Webb, De’Erricka was in-house counsel to the International Corporate Headquarters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. where her focus areas were tax and non-profit compliance, intellectual property, and transactional law. She is also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho.

Paul Marzano joined Merritt, Webb, Wilson and Caruso in 2023. Mr. Marzano began his legal career as an associate with a litigation firm where his primary area of practice was personal injury. He was then employed with an Illinois general practice firm concentrating in family law, personal injury and workers compensation before opening his own general practice law firm. He received his B.S. in Commerce from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and his J.D. from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.

Paul Marzano joined Merritt, Webb, Wilson and Caruso in 2023. Mr. Marzano began his legal career as an associate with a litigation firm where his primary area of practice was personal injury. Raushanah Nero joined Merritt, Webb, Wilson, and Caruso in 2023. Prior to joining Merritt Webb, Mrs. Nero worked as an Assistant Public Defender for Lexington County where she handled cases in General Sessions Court, Magistrate Court, and Traffic Court. She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from The University of South Carolina and her J.D. from The University of South Carolina School of Law.

Raushanah Nero joined Merritt, Webb, Wilson, and Caruso in 2023. Prior to joining Merritt Webb, Mrs. Nero worked as an Assistant Public Defender for Lexington County where she handled cases in General Sessions Court, Magistrate Court, and Traffic Court. She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from The University of South Carolina and her J.D. from The University of South Carolina School of Law.

Brent Hays joined Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC in 2006. Mr. Hays has a general practice, consulting with clients on a wide variety of legal issues and has received numerous awards for excellent service. In 2007 and 2008, he was honored with a Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc. Members Choice Award. He received the same award for LegalShield in 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2021. Mr. Hays graduated from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA in 1997 with both a law degree and a Master of Arts in Public Policy. After admission to the Tennessee Bar, he entered into private solo practice in Wilson County, Tennessee and also worked under contract with the 15th District Public Defenders Office. In his practice, Mr. Hays handled a varied docket of civil and criminal litigation, business associations, and estate planning work. In 1999, Mr. Hays left private practice to work for the Tennessee Department of Children's Services where he was responsible for all department litigation in Rutherford County and Williamson County before the juvenile, circuit and chancery courts. In addition to his custody caseload, Mr. Hays handled training and oversight for all local department staff engaged in courtroom work. In 2005, Mr. Hays returned to private practice as an associate in the firm of Blackburn and McCune.

Catherine Brockenborough was born and raised in Washington D.C. She graduated from Yale College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. After two years serving and working with disadvantaged children in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Ms. Brockenborough moved to New York City to attend Columbia Law School. She graduated in 1996 and headed to Nashville to join the Metro-Nashville Office of the Public Defender. As an Assistant Public Defender, Ms. Brockenborough represented indigent adults and children charged with crimes. After four years with the Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Brockenborough joined the staff at the Office of the Post-Conviction Defender where she represented death row prisoners in their state post-conviction appeals. Ms. Brockenborough joined Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso in 2019 where she enjoys assisting clients with their legal needs.

Heather B. Caruso is currently licensed to practice law in South Carolina and Tennessee. She received her undergraduate degree from Wofford College and her law degree from the University of South Carolina where she was a member of the Environmental Law Journal. After being admitted to the South Carolina Bar, Ms. Caruso worked in a general practice for two years where her practice focused on real estate matters. In 2000, she became an associate at Berry Quackenbush & Stuart, PA providing legal assistance to LegalShield members. She is now the Supervising Member of the LegalShield Division at Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC.

Heather B. Caruso is currently licensed to practice law in South Carolina and Tennessee. Jocelyn Gnirrep is the research director for Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC and oversees the legal research performed by the other attorneys in the research department. Ms. Gnirrep graduated from Ursinus College in 1992 with a B.A. in German, and minor concentrations in East Asian Studies and Music. She graduated from Rutgers University School of Law – Camden in 1995, where she received International and Foreign Law Honors, with Distinction. Prior to moving to South Carolina, Ms. Gnirrep was an associate with the law firm of Saviano & Tobias, P.C. in midtown Manhattan, where she practiced corporate and business law, general litigation and estate planning. Ms. Gnirrep joined the South Carolina firm of Pennington & Lott, L.L.P., where she concentrated her practice in telecommunications, commercial real estate and bankruptcy law. Among the clients she served were a national cellular telephone service provider and a South Carolina utility company. In 2004, she joined the firm of Berry, Quackenbush & Stuart, PA where she was the firm’s research director. Ms. Gnirrep has also served as an adjunct instructor at Concord University School of Law. She was invited to work for Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC in 2006.

Shandi Fleeman received a Bachelor of Science in English in 2003 from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2006. Ms. Fleeman is currently licensed to practice law in Tennessee. Ms. Fleeman became an associate attorney of Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC in 2009 and has been providing counsel to LegalShield members since that time. Prior to joining the firm, she began her legal career in Memphis, Tennessee, where she participated in a general practice of law including estate planning, contracts, probate and family law.
