The Maui community is reeling from the devastation caused by recent wildfires. As residents grapple with the damage, many feel compelled to help however possible. Directing your efforts and donations to trusted local aid groups will best assist people affected by the ongoing crisis.
Here’s how to help
You can help the relief efforts in Maui by donating to these organizations:
- The American Red Cross of Hawaii is working 24/7 to provide search and rescue operational support in Maui. The Red Cross is taking donations to give food, shelter and emotional support to those in need.
- The Maui Strong Fund is providing recovery resources to support those affected by the Maui fires. The organization has committed to giving 100% of collected donations toward the relief effort.
- Aloha United Way has established the Maui Fire Relief Fund to take one-time donations to support victims.
- The Maui Humane Society has begun efforts to protect and care for pets affected by the wildfire. Find out how to donate resources for displaced pets.
- The Maui Food Bank is holding a virtual food drive. Donations will help feed people in need.
Carefully research
Please carefully research any unfamiliar charities before donating to ensure your money directly aids victims. Sadly, scams emerge during disasters seeking to exploit people’s generosity.
For LegalShield Members impacted by the fires, our provider law firms can assist at no added cost with insurance claims, contractor bids, government aid applications and other paperwork.
If you know someone who lost their home or livelihood and could benefit from this support, please have them contact us.
Though the road to recovery looks long, our community will get through this together. Thank you for your compassion and readiness to help Maui heal.
