Is LegalShield an attorney referral service?
Again, no. Instead, we partner with legal firms across the U.S. and Canada. When you become a member, you gain access to an entire law firm in your state. This ensures that you match with a qualified attorney to handle your immediate legal needs AND offers additional security for whatever legal issues may arise in the future. For example, you may join to consult with an estate attorney on drafting your Will but later get advice from a consumer finance attorney over an incorrect insurance claim or help from a traffic attorney to dispute a moving violation. In other words, you’re connected to an entire provider firm covering a vast array of legal practices instead of an individual attorney who only practices a specific type of law.
How long until I can talk to an attorney?
Most memberships are processed in 1 business day. Once membership is processed, attorneys are available 24/7 for legal emergencies.
Can you confirm that my specific situation is covered?
Most day-to-day legal issues are covered by the standard member benefits with no additional fees. Regardless of your specific legal issue, as a member you can consult with your provider attorney on an unlimited number of personal legal issues. Plus, your provider attorney can make phone calls and write letters on your behalf and can review and provide feedback on an unlimited number of personal legal documents.

Do I get to pick the attorney I’ll speak with?
When you become a member, we do the work of finding the best attorney to fit your needs. Save time and reduce the stress of searching for an attorney. Just call us and an intake specialist will go over your issue and assign your case to the most qualified attorney at your provider firm. If your assigned provider attorney is ever not quite the right fit for you for whatever reason you can request to work with another attorney at any point.
